Join us at 6:30 on Thursday night for our monthly meeting. We will meet this month at Richard’s On Main under the Apollo Theater on Main Street in downtown Peoria. Sunday, August 21st. 6:30-8:30 PM. NATIONAL MOVE TO AMEND SPOKESMAN TO APPEAR LOCALLY – David Cobb, national spokesperson for the Move to Amend organization, will speak in Peoria Heights at Forest Park Nature Center, 5809 Forest Park Drive on Sunday, August 21st from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Sunday, August 28th, 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Heart of Illinois Sierra Club and Peoria Families Against Toxic Waste are sponsoring speaker Neil Seldman, of the Institute for Local Self Reliance, to present “Recycling Pays for a Cleaner and Greener Community” and to host a discussion on how cities across the country are increasing their local recycling.
Monday, August 29th, 9:00 AM. The Peoria County Siting Hearing regarding the proposed 10 million ton expansion Cell 3 at our City / County landfill begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 29th, at the Grand Hotel, Brandywine Drive, near Northwoods Mall.
Wednesday, August 31st, 6:00 PM. Peoria County Siting – Public Comments. The hearing has Wednesday evening, August 31st, beginning at 6 p.m. scheduled for public comments. Please come to this hearing and make some comments on how you want/know/wish Peoria to do better with recycling and reducing waste and concerns that we are not doing enough to reduce our waste. http://www.peoriacounty.org/countyboard/pdc3
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, September 8-10th. ICC Green Expo. The second annual event will be held at main ICC campus in East Peoria. Details to come.
