City of Peoria Curbside Recycling Contest Winners

The results are in!  The Global Warming Solutions Group has winners to announce for our City of Peoria Curbside Recycling Contest that sent local organizations into neighborhoods to sign up residents for PDC’s new free curbside recycling program.   The winners were announced at the Earth Day Festival at Forest Park Nature Center on Saturday, April 24th.  The Solutions Group would like to thank all who have participated in the contest and helped to reduce the community’s environmental footprint by reducing the amount of waste sent to the local landfill and reducing the amount of natural resources needed to make new products.  The participating groups collected a grand total of 230 signatures to sign up for the curbside recycling program and 138 confirmed payments had been made to PDC by the contest deadline.  Overall, PDC has over 4000 residents signed up compared to the 3200 subscribers Waste Management had at the end of their program.  That 25% increase in participation will only increase over time!  Congratulations to all!
