Tip of the Week: Look for the Energy Star label when shopping for electronics.
Whether your are buying a new television for the living room or replacing an old energy-guzzling refrigerator, look for the Energy Star label when making your decision. It is an excellent way to evaluate products because it means that the item has met the energy efficiency standards of the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. The program is designed to help save energy (and money) and protect the environment. You will find the label on appliances, heating and cooling systems, home electronics, lighting, and office equipment. The program continues to evolve as it now covers buildings and homes.
